These spherical ice cubes will melt the slowest when they have the least amount of surface area exposed to the surrounding environment. In essence, the larger the surface area of the ice cube, the more heat it absorbs, leading to faster melting. So, if you’re aiming for longer-lasting ice, consider opting for spherical ice cubes with minimal surface area.

When it comes to maximizing ice retention in a cooler, the choice between block ice and smaller, cubed ice depends on your priorities. Smaller cubed ice cools a cooler and its contents rapidly, providing quick relief from heat. However, block ice has a distinct advantage in terms of longevity, as it melts at a considerably slower rate. Many experts in the field prefer to strike a balance by using a combination of both types of ice.
